EKG Technician
Our Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician program is designed to teach noninvasive aspects of interpreting and monitoring the cardiovascular system.

The demand for EKG technicians is expected to grow at a rate of 24% throughout 2019 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
To obtain employment, potential employers may require a background check, driving record check, and/or drug testing.

Lesson plan
Students will learn basic cardiovascular technology, medical terminology, professional ethics, HIPAA compliance, and meticulous CDC established infection control procedures. You will have the ability to identify and distinguish between various heart impulses and the correct placement of electrodes. You will also be introduced to legal and ethical issues in the healthcare field, as well as Holter monitoring and stress testing.
The EKG Technician training program is divided into two parts.

Four week duration from 8AM-2PM Monday-Friday.
Evening sessions
Five week duration from 4:30-9:30PM Monday-Thursday.

Graduation
There are just three requirements to graduate and get started on your career in healthcare.
- Complete required course hours
- Maintain a grade of at least 70%
- Pay in full all course fees/tuition
When these requirements have been satisfied, a Certificate of Completion and official transcript will be issued. Excel Academy graduates may wish to independently pursue National Certification.

Admission policy
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants must speak and comprehend English.
- An in-person interview, admission applications, and other necessary documentation must be submitted and approved prior to enrollment.
- Applicants must have a physical exam and be free of communicable diseases.
- Applicants must have a TB test with a negative result or a chest x-ray performed.
